While I have not had to go to planned parenthood for birth control, HPV testing, regular checkups, UTI screenings and god forbid an abortion—I have know countless peers who have, for all the issues above and more. It is a disgrace to our society and most importantly women, that we would limit…
condones palestinian attacks (including suicide attacks) on israel and israeli citizens (including women and children). thinks you should be able to “lightly” beat your wife. thinks punishment for homosexuality should be death. conversely, he is against religious extremism and bigotry, thinks attacks against humans are a sin (unless those humans are israeli), seems to be progressive on women’s contributions to society, is against hezbollah, and is down with non-muslims living they lives. is what i can gather from this.
incentives to lure people back to detroit - "One program offers $150,000 in housing renovation money and requiring only $1,000 down to police officers who are willing to relocate to the city. Another offers college graduates $2,500 to rent and $20,000 forgivable loan to buy properties."
it’s too bad that renovating a house is so difficult and time-consuming. i like the idea behind this, but personally i can’t fathom what it would involve. then again, if the foundation’s sturdy.. maybe? i don’t know enough about home renovation. the pictures are beautiful. many of these homes harken back to the grander times in detroit.
the unfortunate thing is also that detroit property taxes are NOT cheap.. something they fail to mention. you can appeal the property tax on your home in march of each year to some janky 9 member ‘hardship committee,’ but apparently they are prone to giving breaks to people with corvettes, cadillacs, $800,000 condos, and other similar types of “hardships.” sigh.
Half of me is all, “YUHS!” The other half is kinda, “surely $50k could have been raised for something more culturally lucrative?”
i must be an old bag. 96% of me is like “really? $50,000 for a robo cop statue?” in my opinion that money should be used for youth programs, or real neighborhood beautification (not in the form of statues. note that i’m sort of biased against statues. i prefer trees). robocop is the opposite of a tree.
